Beau Tye's Pet Spa is teaming up with the Newnan-Coweta Humane Society to help save lives and we can't do it without your help. The benefits are endless for everyone involved!
Why Is Your Involvement So Important?
Becoming a Foster Parent is a very important because the more foster parents/homes we have, the more homeless pets we can save from kill shelters. Did you know that on average, perfectly healthy dogs and cats are euthanized 2-3 times a week at the Coweta Animal Control Shelter and that number per week on average can be up to 20-25 pets! Well over 1,200 helpless pets per year euthanized, by no choice of their own.
What Are The Benefits Of Becoming A Foster Parent?
Besides saving a precious life, here are the benefits to you:
- Your foster pet will be proviced free basic veterinary care (including but not limited to
shots, spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention and heartworm prevention).
That is not to say that pets that you volunteer to foster are not going to need some
rehabilitation. Most, if not all, of the animals pulled from the shelter have
varying degrees of ailments that they need to recover from including intestinal
parasites, fleas, heartworms, poor nutrition, kennel cough. For these reasons
alone, all resident animals (your personal pets) MUST be current on all
vaccines and should not be in ill-health or otherwise immune-compromised. You will need to be able to transport your foster pet to/from veertinary
appointments. Arrangements can be made to assist in this aspect, but
flexibility is essential.
- You are provided with donated dog/cat food, cat litter, crates. The humane society does not
provide "toys" or collars/leashes unless they have them donated.
- Your foster pet will be "advertised" on the adoption websites - both www.shelterrescue.org and www.shelterrescue.petfinder.com
As a foster parent you agree to keep a foster pet until such time as it is placed for adoption
or put on transport. Decisions regarding the final placement are at the
discretion of the shelter director, but they value the opinion of their fosters parents and
value your input regarding placement.
- You will receive, free of charge, basic dog grooming (bath, nails and trim) from us at Beau Tye's Pet Spa. Basic pet grooming will be provided, by appointment, no more than every 8 weeks between grooming appointments. To qualify for free basic grooming, you must enter "Beau Tye's Pet Spa" on the Foster A Dog Application below under "How did you hear about us" section of the application. We do not groom cats.
- As a foster parent of a dog, you are given the invaluable resource of Barry and Jessica
from Bark Busters for all foster dogs should you encounter behavioral issues, free of charge.
By becoming an active foster you
also qualify for a gift certificate for free services valued at $250 that can help
you with your own dog!
- You will need to bring your foster pet to weekly adoption events -
usually held at the Newnan PetsMart on Sunday afternoons, but occasionally other
special events are held.
- As a foster parent you first have to have a home visit before being approved for foster
and will sign a foster agreement and agree to periodic home
inspections.
